It was a big year for this neurodivergent media maker, but instead of regaling you with a boring “Year in Review” list, here are my top three takeaways from 2022…and my focus for 2023.
- My life is not sustainable. I made decisions this year to start fixing it.
- I’ve been contorting myself to fit unreasonable circumstances (and instrumental setups) for too long. It’s time to start adjusting the circumstances of my life (and the setup of my drums) wherever possible to fit me.
- Earning more money will require uncomfortable requests, but those requests have the potential to pay off in big ways.
- I’m already working on Andrew Simonet’s Artists U curriculum with some friends, which will be my focus for 2023. This curriculum helps artists to develop sustainable lives, so it is exactly what I need!
Here are links to the folks I mentioned in this video:
- Becca Lory Hector – one of my autistic mentors
- Barbara Huson née Stanny, author of Overcoming Underearning
- Andrew Simonet, creator of Artists U
- Mauricio Miller, anti-poverty advocate, whose work inspired the Artists U curriculum
