This is meant to be a companion to I Hate to Meditate, Wonderful Being, and Andrés. I’m actually working on several more songs on the same theme. I’d like to make an album, and I’d like for this to be the title track.
The thing is…nobody does albums anymore! It’s all about EP’s. I didn’t even know what an EP was until about two years ago; apparently, it stands for “extended play.” An album is ten songs or more; an EP is less than ten songs. At the ASCAP conference recently, I heard a panelist say that if you’re an unsigned, independent artist, nobody has time to listen to your album…but if you’ve got a three-song EP, they just might give you a chance.
Being a naturally contrary sort of person, that really made me want to make NOTHING BUT ALBUMS!!! FOREVER AND EVER!! MUAHAHAHAHA!!!
But then that begs the question…would anybody listen to it? Should I split it up into two five-song EP’s? “International Man of Mystery parts one and two?”
